Okay, you dwell in the Frobel Division and you’re behind like.. 60 games or so and you wonder if there is hope for this year. You conclude… that there is no hope for this season. So, you begin to wonder if things will change next year … So, what do today’s stats tell us about next year?
Does it say you have a chance? Who’s the Big Dog? Are you it?
Well, look no further cause here’s your stats:
Let’s start in the Robinson Division and end in the Frobel Division.
Montreal: 24.1 Pitching: 20.0 44.1
Addition of Scherzer and Baez not taken into consideration
MVP: Jose Ramirez / Now Scherzer …
Back from Rehab: Marte
Back from the Dead: Crawford
Down Year: Josh Reddick / Dee Gordon
Presently, the Menace are holding onto a slim lead. However, with the addition of Scherzer and Baez, they might stretch it out. Going into next season, they remain the team to beat.
Ottawa: 23.7 Pitching: 16.5 40.2
At the doorstep: Josh Fields
Down: Springer
Improving: Dickerson
Disappointment: Hoskins, Villar, Cespedes,
Ottawa has been having some good years lately, it’s just that the win column isn’t exactly supporting their offence and pitching. Again, for most of their year, they have had a great run differential, but struggling to put that into wins. Next year, they look like a pretty solid second place team.
BR 23.2 Pitching: 12.6 35.8
Jump: Alex Bregman, Whitt Merrifield
Down: Smoak, Zimmerman, Murphy, Mancini
Unexpected Jon Gray.
Injuries: Ryu
Underperformance: Hill, Pomeranz
Climbing: David Hernandez
Beaconsfield believes that the world ends tomorrow, and they trade and draft with that in mind. They are looking pretty solid next year, however they have some work to do to catch the top two teams in the division.
BW 20.1 Pitching: 11.7 31.8
Lost Scherzer / Baez (their top pitcher and hitter)
Down: Josh Donaldson (Father time), Encarnacion, Anthony Rizzo (?)
Injuries to Yu Darvish, Taijuan and Madison Bumgarner, Alex Reyes
Their numbers are even worse that what you see here. They look like a solid rebuilding team, however, It’s more like let’s just wait a year till our injured bums get better. They are a 9 dressed up as a 1 — if you remember the ole Trooper … the comment is a turn on that one.
Jenkins Division
North Bay: 24.8 Pitching: 17 41.8
MVP: Trout
Surprise Stud: Bauer
Keep Rolling: Rendon, Goldschmidt
WAY Disappointing: Harper / Cano (for other reasons)
Who Knew? Corbin, Stripling
Get Better: Wacha
North Bay is favoured this season, and looks to be the favorite next season as well. If Harper turns it around, they can be even stronger.
Hamilton: 24.1 Pitching: 7 31.1
STUD: Judge, Benintendi, Carpenter, Aguilar
Bottoming Out: Hernandez, Wong, Alfaro
Trade Bait: Arrieta
All hit and no pitch, these guys could put up ten runs a game. Trouble is, they will give up 15 runs …
Langley: 21.7 Pitching: 9.2 30.9
STUD: Lindor
Disappointing: Bryant
Surprise: Schwarber
Hope: Foltynewicz but enough?
Great ERA by Foltynewicz … the team loaded up on starting pitching, but none appear to be really working out. Hitting wise, they have some solid studs, especially if Bryant gets into MVP shape. Plenty of ball left in the season.
Madawaska: 15 Pitching: 7.8 22.8
Return: Story
Disappointing: Everyone else
Best Pitcher: Minter
HUGE trade at beginning of season for one of the most gifted SS in the league… only to lose him early on. Looks like the newbie is going to have to wait on a few of his deals to see some fruit. On the bright side, Guerrero might not get called up this season, and Madawaska will be waiting the next season for certain.
Frobel Division
Sacramento: 32.7 Pitching: 19.1 51.8
MVP: Betts
Studs: Simmons, Altuve, Freeman
Surprise: Chapman
Arms: Nola, Verlander
Slipping: Kluber?
Bullpen Stud: Chapman
Listen, if any team doesn’t have a five-year plan, they will never catch Sacramento. Next year is over before it even begins.
Nassau: 20.2 Pitching: 12.7 32.9
Young Stud: Albies, Snell, Hader
Is it really a surprise: Segura
Disappointing: J. Martine, Brantley, Happ and Olsen
Stand Up: Would the real Garrett Richards stand up?
Young Guns: Urena
Everyone in this division will see the fact about Sacramento, except Nassau. They will go in with more hope than plans, but they’re growing. If MacPhail can hold onto the MVP type players such as Jose Ramirez, he will be making the right steps.
Yorkshire: 18.6 Pitching: 13.8 32.4
Stud: Machado
Finally: Gerrit Cole, Tyler Skaggs
Mid Range: Hernandez, Russell, Yelich
Comeback: Peacock, Cobb, Roark
Yorkshire is sitting in the middle of the pack with plenty of strong players and plenty of pics in the stable. Youngsters are finally turning things around…
Sao Paulo: 18.5 Pitching: 13.2 31.7
Stud: JD Martinez, Gennett
Second Life: Kemp
Injury: Myers, Kershaw
Need Help: Rest of Lineup
Out of Nowhere: Paxton, Clevinger, Maeda
Improve: Keuchel
This ownerless team is struggling a bit for the moment. Hoping for new ownership who will bring a plan to one of the most successful teams in BDB history.
