The Fort Worth Parrots<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019:\u00a0\u00a02019 was the season of the Parrot.\u00a0\u00a0Out of nowhere, and with a down and out Sacramento Team, the Parrots seized the opportunity and got to see their name in lights.\u00a0\u00a0Supporting a talented offense and a serviceable pitching staff, the Parrots not only made the playoffs as the Wild Card Team, they managed to knock out the heavily favored 97 win team the Menace, and if they were not enough, took the Robinson Division Champs the brink of defeat by going the full 7 games in the League Championship series.\u00a0\u00a0Congratulations to the Parrots on a fine season<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although 2019 was a great season, the same is not expected for 2020.  Having the same obstacles as the Nassau Sharks, the biggest hope for the Parrots is to void a last place finish. Owner, Brent Smith is still trying to figure out the draft, but seems to be getting a hang of it but getting serviceable players to fill the holes.  If there is a knock against Smith, its his aversion to trading for said picks that could have gotten him a more sure-fire talent than the draft, but oh well, it\u2019s all about learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team will feature two strong arms in Kenta Maeda and Dallas Keuchel, but let\u2019s be honest \u2013 against Sacramento and Yorkshire \u2013 it\u2019s not enough firepower.  Hitting wise there is some potential in the young bats of Brandon Lowe, Jake Cronenworth, Alec Bohm and Ryan Mountcastle, but the thing is \u2026 it\u2019s difficult to judge talent on a 60 game series.  Good hole pluggers yes — enough to mount a challenge?  Not really.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kershaw keeps ticking .. in more ways than one… <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Clayton Kershaw promises to be back in 2021, but like Chris Sale in Nassau, he is on the wrong side of 30. Expecting miracles from 30 year olds is not much of a battle plan.   The other pitchers, are good three \/ four slot arms, so not enough to make the difference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hope for success?  Will Paul DeJong bounce back? Will Alec Bohn be legit?  Will Pete Alonso and Max Munch find their HR stroke?  Will Miguel Sano finally pull all that potential together and become a real gamer?  If so, the team could challenge for second before long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Same to be expected from 2021 \u2013 Not a lot of young rookies waiting in the wings, but there will be plenty of trades in the next few years that should add a good group of young talent. But knowing the Parrots, trading will be their last resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look for Smith to gain the right amount of experience and the right amount of risk to move those picks to reach for the brass ring.
